Wii’s Audio Translator

On March 3, I posted about the Wii having hidden microphone support on a friend’s forum, well apparently CNN is reporting that the Wii Remotes have a built-in “audio translator” that “converts analog data such as human speech into a digital data stream.” Now that is not a microphone though, it’s more like the brains of a microphone. CNN also reports that this piece of hardware also cost two dollars per Wii-remote, that is truly a lot of money when you add up the 2 million or so Wii remotes sold, so basically Nintendo must have plans to eventually utilize this thing, so could it be a microphone expansion, could it be used for the Wii’s reported upcoming Text-to-Speech applications.
