Manhunt 2 will finally be released in the UK, that’s right no more appeals
or bans. The BBFC took Video Appeals Committee ruling, but were finally shot down. The game will receive a 18 certificate for release.
But for those of you in the UK thinking that you might want to pick up the game, I strongly suggest that you don’t, the game is censored to the point were it lost it’s identity. with out the gory stress releasing murder scenes, it’s just a heart racing Splinter Cell clone.

Democratic State Representative Helene Keeley has worked with Jack Thompson to bring video game legislation to Delaware, but it now appears that she is backing, along with Lt. Governor John Carney, the Entertainment Software Rating Board(ESRB). She has said the following:
The ESRB ratings are an effective and informative resource that allows parents to decide if the video game their child wants is appropriate, and parents should be sure to check the rating each time they consider a game for their child so they know they’re choosing one that’s right for their age,” added Rep. Keeley. “I’m proud to be participating in the effort to educate parents in our state about the tools at their disposal so they can make informed decisions.
That would be the second second elected official this week to leave the “Dark Force” and join the Pro-ESRB bandwagon. The first was Republican Oklahoma State Senator Glenn Coffee. Glenn Coffee was known for his support of the Oklahoma’s 2006 video game law, a piece of legislation attacking the Video Game Industry and the ESRB. He is now working with the ESRB on a parental awareness program.
As a father, I know about the tough decisions parents face today about the media they allow into their homes, The simple fact is that there’s no substitute for parental involvement and responsibility. It’s important that parents play an active role in choosing games for their children, just as it’s important for Oklahoma retailers to comply with their store policies that restrict the sale or rental of M-rated games to those under 17. ESRB ratings are an effective and informative resource that allows parents to decide if the video game their child wants is appropriate. I’m proud to be educating parents in our state about the tools at their disposal.
I’m glad to see these two anti-gaming legislators see the light, let’s hope more follow in their steps.

In a recent survey conducted by Harris/Decima in canada, it was revealed that more canadians recognize Mario than their own prime minister, Stephen Harper. In Toronto, Calgary and Halifax, more identified Mario than Harper. Even in Harper’s hometown of Calgary, more people were able to identify a photo of Mario(47 percent) than identify Stephen Harper in a photo(47 percent).
Canadian politicians are lucky Mario doesn’t have his Canadian citizenship and could campaign for office,” said Ron Bertram, general manager of Nintendo of Canada. “It’s no surprise that Mario is more recognized than high-profile politicians: he’s entertained generations of Canadians and inspires only happy thoughts.

I have yet to make up a prize for the winner, but I can promise you “props” beyond your wildest dreams. So go ahead, and let the hate flow through you. The winner will be decided by who can depict Jack Thompson in the most vile way!

It seems that RockStar has “fixed” some of the problems with Manhunt 2, by submitting a revised version of the game. Below is the recent press release.
Manhunt 2 Receives “M” Rating
ESRB rating assignment clears the way for October 2007 North American release
New York, NY – August 24, 2007 – Rockstar Games today announced it will release Manhunt 2 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, and the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo in North America on October 31, 2007. This announcement follows the submission of a modified version of Manhunt 2 to the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), who has now rated the title “M” for Mature for ages 17 and older.
In June, Take-Two was compelled to suspend the release of the horror title when the ESRB issued an AO (Adults Only) rating.
“Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we’re glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience,” said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. “We love the horror genre. Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it.”
“Manhunt 2 is an extraordinary game, and we eagerly anticipate its release in North America,” added Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two.
Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. Early previews of Manhunt 2 have consistently praised the game’s original design and creative use of narrative, tone, and atmosphere to evoke an experience many consider unmatched in video games. The Wii version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto.
Video games rated Mature are for consumers ages 17 and older and are not intended for children. Along with the Mature rating, the ESRB also assigned the following content descriptors to Manhunt 2: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content and Use of Drugs.
Rockstar Games is a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO).

Do video games have a hold on you? Do you play compulsively? Have you isolated yourself from family, friends, or social interaction. Do you feel better betting a boss than achieving something in real life? Gaming has you under it influence. Do games change the way Americans think? The way the world thinks? Gaming has the world under it’s influence.
